The Growing Panic
Richard stepped out of the car again, his boots splashing through puddles, as he walked towards the road. The air felt colder than it should have, the smell of wet asphalt mixing with a sense of foreboding that clung to him.

His attempts to call her again only resulted in silence. His chest grew tight as the minutes ticked on. “She’s not coming back,” he whispered to himself. The thought gnawed at him.
