The Day the Van Arrived
The white nursing home van pulled up to the house on a grey morning.
His father opened the door with a confused smile…
but that smile vanished when the workers stepped forward.

“What is this?” he demanded.
Gavin avoided his eyes. “It’s time for you to get proper care.”
His father’s voice cracked — not with age, but with betrayal.
“You’re doing this for the house,” he whispered.
Gavin didn’t answer.
