The Unexpected Encounter
As Marian exited the store, she was stopped in her tracks.
Before her stood a young pregnant woman, exhausted, with an empty tin can beside her. People walked by without even glancing her way, almost as if she didn’t exist.
Marian put down her shopping bags and looked at her.
Why was no one helping her? Why were her eyes so full of desperation?
