The Arrival
The plane touched down just before dawn.
As passengers began unbuckling their seatbelts, Sandra’s heart hammered in her chest. The woman looked terrified, glancing nervously toward the man.
He smiled at her — that empty, practiced smile Sandra would never forget.
Two officers in plain clothes waited at the gate, blending in with airport staff. When Sandra discreetly nodded in the woman’s direction, they moved fast.
“Sir, could you come with us, please?”
“What’s this about?” he snapped, his voice suddenly cold.
The woman’s hands trembled, but her eyes flooded with relief.
It turned out she’d been reported missing six months earlier. The man wasn’t her partner. He was her abductor, moving her across borders under the guise of a business trip.
Her only lifeline had been that silent gesture — and the flight attendant who noticed it.
