The Charm of the Old House
When Daniel and Megan first toured the colonial house, they were drawn to its charm: stained-glass windows, a cozy fireplace, and a spacious porch that invited mornings with coffee in hand. The old house had personality.
The inspection had been uneventful, and the previous owners had seemed eager to get rid of it. It was a fixer-upper, but that was their thing. After a few repairs, the house would be perfect.
It wasn’t long before the house began to reveal its true nature. Small issues quickly became more concerning—peeling wallpaper, faulty wiring, strange smells that wouldn’t go away. Still, the couple persevered, confident that with enough effort, they could turn this house into their dream home.
But as the weeks wore on, something didn’t feel quite right. There were leaks that shouldn’t have been there, foundation cracks cleverly hidden behind furniture, and a musty, earthy scent that permeated the air no matter how many times they cleaned.
