The Price of Kindness
George worked as a waiter in a small diner. He was barely making ends meet and constantly endured the screaming of his abusive boss.
One day, he looked out the window and saw an old woman. She was limping, and her lips were blue from the cold. She wasn’t asking for money; she was just staring at the food with hungry, desperate eyes.
George couldn’t stand it. He grabbed a warm loaf of bread from the kitchen and ran outside to her.

Sylvia (for it was her) wept with gratitude. But no good deed goes unpunished.
His boss saw everything.
“Are you handing out my food for free?!” he screamed. “Get out of here! You’re fired!”
George lost his livelihood simply because he fed a hungry stranger.
