Officer Josett knew that for a 92-year-old, getting to the DMV and waiting in line is a physical impossibility. Without help, Jesus would never get his money.
So, the officer waited with him.
They stood in line. They filled out the paperwork together. Josett helped him navigate the confusing forms and waited until the clerk handed Jesus a temporary, valid California ID.
