The Sound of a Lock
“Get down!” Noah hissed, grabbing Jamie’s shoulder. They crouched below the instrument panel as the boats slammed against the pontoons.
THUD. The entire plane shuddered. The hollow sound of metal hitting metal echoed like a death knell.

They’re boarding. They’re actually boarding us. Noah could hear the rhythmic slapping of waves and the heavy breathing of men outside. The door handle rattled. CLICK-CLICK-CLICK. Someone was trying to force the latch from the outside.
“Open up!” a voice barked in a language they didn’t know. The tone was unmistakable. It was an order, not a request.
Jamie looked at Noah, his face ashen. “We’re dead. We’re dead in the middle of nowhere.”

Noah’s eyes darted to the ignition. The engine was flooded. But he saw something the pirates hadn’t noticed yet.
