THE CONFESSION
Eric stared at him. The roller coaster of emotions was too much.
“You’re giving me $1,000?”
“Yes. You earned it. You’re a good man, Eric.”
Eric broke down. He sobbed openly in the middle of the store.
He hugged Rahat. It wasn’t a polite hug. It was the desperate embrace of a man who had been drowning.
“I’ve been out here a long time,” Eric whispered, his voice trembling.
“I never had a friend do something like this for me.”

He didn’t care about the money anymore. He cared that someone saw him.
Rahat drove him away from that corner. He wasn’t just a subject in a video anymore.
The experiment was supposed to be a joke.
Instead, it exposed a truth that shamed everyone who had walked past Eric without looking.
The man with the empty pockets had the fullest heart.
