“Clear!” Daniel shouted, moving through the kitchen.
But where was Lucy? Where was Adriana?

He ran to the backyard, his flashlight cutting through the thick Georgia fog.
His beam landed on a patch of disturbed bushes.
Adriana lay there, face down, unconscious.

“I have a victim!” Daniel yelled into his radio. “Paramedics, now!”
Adriana groaned as she regained consciousness. Her eyes were unfocused.
“He took her,” she rasped. “He hit me… then he took Lucy.”
