A Secret He Couldn’t Share
Mark’s first morning with sight felt like waking into another world.
Light, color, movement — sensations he hadn’t known in years overwhelmed him. But instead of joy, there was fear.

What if people treated him differently? What if Emily — his anchor through blindness — wasn’t who he thought she was?
So he put on his dark glasses again and pretended nothing had changed.
He moved through the house as usual, memorizing each sound and step, while his newly restored eyes quietly studied every detail.
Shadows of Doubt
At first, everything seemed normal.
Emily made breakfast, hummed softly while she cooked, and asked how he was feeling.
But as the days passed, small inconsistencies appeared.
The kitchen floor he once thought spotless was now covered with stains. His favorite armchair had rips in the fabric he’d never been told about. Even the walls had marks that looked… old.

“What else has changed that she never mentioned?” he wondered, feeling a chill run through him.
