The Captain stepped out of the cockpit, adjusting his cap with irritation. A flight delay cost the airline money, and he was in no mood to deal with crazy passengers. He approached seat 1A, ready to be strict.

Arlene looked up and studied the pilot’s face. A faint, sad smile touched her lips.

“You look just like your father,” she said suddenly.
The Captain was taken aback. He froze, unsure of how to respond. Meanwhile, Arlene opened her bag with trembling hands. Jennifer tensed up, expecting to see trash or, God forbid, a weapon.
