But Arlene didn’t pull out a weapon. She pulled out a black-and-white photograph with bent corners and handed it to the Captain.

The Captain took the picture. It showed a young, beautiful woman in a flight suit standing proudly in front of a WWII P-51 Mustang fighter plane. Her stance was proud, her gaze steel.

The Captain looked from the photo to the old woman in the tattered coat. His eyes went wide with recognition and shock.
“My God…” he whispered, his voice trembling. “You are Arlene Slade. You are one of the ‘Silver Wings’.”
