THE DINNER PARTY FROM HELL
The Martinez parents, now elderly, stared at the stranger standing next to Maria.
Isabella, who was visiting for the weekend, dropped her wine glass. It shattered on the tile.
“Who is this?” the father asked, standing up.
“This is the daughter you threw me out for,” Maria said. “Except she’s not mine. She’s Isabella’s.”
“I never had a baby!” Maria shouted, her voice shaking the walls.
“I lied so Isabella wouldn’t be homeless! And she let me go! She watched you drive me away and said nothing!”
The silence that followed was deafening.
Isabella finally broke. “I was so scared, Maria. I was so scared.”
“You were scared?” Maria hissed. “I was thirteen!”
But the most shocking reveal was yet to come.
