He picked up the phone.
He dialed the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, a local homeless shelter. The voice on the other end belonged to Greg Weaver, the director of food services.
“We have an emergency,” the store told him. “Can you accept a donation? But there’s a catch: It is massive, and you need to get here right now.”

Weaver didn’t know what to expect. Usually, donations are a few boxes of day-old bread or dented cans.
He rallied a team of volunteers and sent a truck. When they backed up to the store’s loading dock, their jaws hit the floor.
