THE TRUTH UNVEILED
The car was packed in minutes. Bonnie cried as her favorite doll was left on the porch.
They were flying down the highway when the sirens started.
Blue and red lights filled the rearview mirror. Her stepfather cursed, reaching for the floorboard.
“If they take me, you tell them nothing!” he screamed.

The police dragged her “stepfather” out of the car. Bonnie was huddled in the backseat, shaking.
A detective knelt beside her. “Bonnie? Your name is Bonnie, right?”
“Yes,” she sobbed. “Did I do something wrong?”
“No, honey,” the detective said, his voice breaking. “You were taken when you were three years old. These people aren’t your parents.”

Bonnie’s world shattered. Every memory, every hug, every “I love you” had been a lie.
But there was one more shock waiting for her at the police station.
A man was waiting in the lobby. A man she hadn’t seen in four years.
