THE NEW LIFE
Benjamin was watching the news when his coffee mug slipped from his hands.
The screen showed a photo of billionaire Santiago.
But Benjamin didn’t see the suit. He saw the eyes of the homeless man.
It was him.
The doorbell rang an hour later.
It wasn’t a courier. It was a man in an expensive suit. Santiago’s personal attorney.
“Mr. Flynn?” the lawyer extended a thick folder. “A letter for you.”

Benjamin opened the envelope with shaking hands. The handwriting was familiar:
“I wasn’t looking for a manager. I was looking for a human being. You are the only one who passed the test. The other restaurants will be closed, the staff fired. But the empire is now yours. Don’t let me down.”
Attached to the letter were deeds to the restaurant chain worth $50 million.
The managers who kicked the old man out tried to sue. They screamed it was a setup.
But the footage from Santiago’s hidden camera quickly shut them up.
