THE BLUE ANGELS
Gonzalez contacted “Fort Worth Cops for Charities.”
“We have a 92-year-old hero living in a death trap,” she told them. “We need to move fast.”
Within hours, the police department mobilized. They didn’t just want to find his tools.

They wanted to bring the warmth back to a man who had spent his life protecting theirs.
They returned to Lewis’s house that afternoon. When Lewis saw them carrying a massive box into his living room, he froze.
“What is this?” he asked, his voice shaking.
“An early Christmas, Mr. Harris,” Officer Ben Johnson replied.
As the orange glow of the heater filled the room, Lewis did something he hadn’t done in decades.
He started to cry.
“Nobody has ever done anything for me,” he sobbed. “Not since my mother passed.”
