THE SECRET CAMERAS
David hid in the guest house, watching the live feed from the security cameras he had hidden in Emily’s bedroom.
The house was quiet. He watched as Jennifer entered Emily’s room.
“He’s gone, Emily,” Jennifer said. Her voice wasn’t sweet anymore. It was sharp. Like a command.
What happened next made David’s blood run cold.

“Good girl,” Jennifer said, patting her cheek. “Remember what I told you. If Daddy thinks you’re better, he’ll start working late again. He’ll forget about us.”
“But my legs hurt from sitting all day, Mommy,” Emily whispered.
“Do you want him to leave us?” Jennifer snapped. “Because he will. He only stays because you’re sick.”

She’s using my daughter’s body to hold me hostage, David realized.
He didn’t wait. He burst through the front door, the sound of the lock splintering echoing through the house.
